AWS Free Tier
The AWS Free Tier permits users to test numerous AWS services at no cost within certain usage limits.
- Upon creating an AWS account, users are automatically enrolled in the AWS Free Tier for 12 months.
- During this free tier period, users can utilize up to 750 Amazon EC2 Linux micro instance hours across all regions and 5 GB of Amazon S3 standard storage at no cost.

AWS Always Free Tier Services
The AWS Free Tier allows new AWS customers to explore and use a variety of AWS services without incurring costs. It’s important to understand that the Free Tier has three types of offers:
- 12-Month Free Tier: These services are free for 12 months following your AWS account sign-up date, up to certain usage limits. After 12 months, you are charged standard rates. Examples include Amazon EC2 and Amazon S3.
- Always Free Tier: These services are free indefinitely, up to certain usage limits, and are available to all AWS customers (new and existing). This is what most people refer to when they talk about “AWS Always Free Tier Services.”
- Short-Term Trials: These are limited-time free trials for specific services, designed to let you try them out.
Here’s a breakdown of common services included in the Always Free Tier:
Compute:
- AWS Lambda: 1 million free requests per month and up to 400,000 GB-seconds of compute time per month (or 3.2 million seconds).
Databases:
- Amazon DynamoDB: 25 GB of storage, 25 provisioned Write Capacity Units (WCU), and 25 provisioned Read Capacity Units (RCU), enough to handle up to 200 million requests per month.
- Amazon Aurora DSQL: 1 GB of storage and 100,000 Distributed Processing Units (DPUs).
Storage:
- Amazon S3 Glacier: 10 GB of retrieval per month.
Messaging & Notifications:
- Amazon Simple Notification Service (SNS): 1 million publishes, 100,000 HTTP/S deliveries, and 1,000 email deliveries per month.
- Amazon Simple Queue Service (SQS): 1 million message requests per month.
Monitoring & Management:
- Amazon CloudWatch: 10 custom metrics and 10 alarms.
- AWS CloudTrail: 1 trail for free to monitor account activity.
- AWS Systems Manager: Many features like Explorer, Resource Groups, Insights Dashboard, Inventory, Run Command, Session Manager, Patch Manager, Maintenance Window, State Manager, Parameter Store, On-Premises Instance Management, and Distributor are always free.
- AWS Well-Architected Tool: Unlimited workload reviews.
Developer Tools:
- AWS Amplify Console: 1,000 build minutes, 5GB storage, and 15GB served per month.
- AWS CodeCommit: Free for up to 5 active users, with 50 GB of storage and 10,000 Git requests per month.
- AWS CodeBuild: 100 minutes of build time per month.
- AWS CodePipeline: 1 active pipeline per month.
- Amazon Q Developer: Unlimited autocomplete suggestions, code license reviews, diagnosis of common errors, and limited chat interactions and code generation tasks.
Security, Identity, & Compliance:
- Amazon Cognito: Up to 50,000 monthly active users.
- AWS Key Management Service (KMS): 20,000 requests per month.
- AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM): Always free for managing users and permissions.
Other Services:
- Amazon VPC (Virtual Private Cloud): The VPC itself is free, but you pay for resources launched within it.
- AWS Glue: Up to 1 million objects in the Glue Data Catalog for free.
- AWS Step Functions: 4,000 state transitions per month.
- AWS Storage Gateway: First 100GB of this hybrid storage and transfer service is always free.
- AWS Migration Hub: Free for centrally managing application migrations.
- AWS Application Discovery Service: Track server info for up to 1,000 applications per account.
It’s crucial to always refer to the official AWS Free Tier page (aws.amazon.com/free/) for the most up-to-date and detailed information, as limits and included services can change. Always monitor your usage to avoid unexpected charges, especially as you start to scale your applications.

AWS Management Console

The AWS Management Console is a web application. It offers a broad set of service consoles for managing Amazon Web Services.

The home page of the AWS Management Console has access to each service console, like Amazon S3, EC2, CloudFront, and others.

AWS Resource Groups menu allows users to manage AWS resources, such as EC2 instances or S3 buckets, collectively as a group.

Users can also use the Resource Groups menu to access the Tag Editor, a tool for managing and applying labels or tags to organize resources.


AWS Billing

The AWS Billing Console provides tools for:

- Paying the AWS bills
- Organizing and reporting your AWS costs and usage
- Managing consolidated billing for the members of AWS Organizations
1. Managing an AWS account
It includes changing the default currency, adding or removing Regions, altering the tax information and closing the AWS account.


2. Viewing the bill
It provides a section that describes how to view the bills, generate PDF copies of the charges and set up monthly email notifications to receive the invoices.
3. Managing the payments
It enables users to view estimated bills and pay AWS invoices in the desired currency by setting up a payment currency.


4. Managing the purchase orders
It allows users to perform self-service management of AWS purchase orders, allowing them to handle multiple purchase orders in one place.
5. Managing the costs
It allows users to efficiently manage AWS costs with AWS Cost Categories by classifying the cost and usage into meaningful categories.


6. Managing the payment profiles
It allows users to utilize payment profiles, enabling them to assign multiple payment methods to their automatic payments.
7. Consolidate billing for AWS Organizations
payment for numerous AWS accounts or multiple Amazon Internet Services Pvt. Ltd. (AISPL) accounts.
